Know all men by these presence that Saunders R. Carney of the County of Haywood & State of Tennessee for and in consideration of five dollars to me in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby Acknowledged and for the further benefit I may receive from the female Academy have this day bargained sold & conveyed to M P Cherry M B Pewett M S Coppedge FB Kerr and Felix McFarland Trustees of the Dancyville Female Academy & to their Successors in office forever & to MA Brown Trustee of the Independent order of Odd fellows of the Dancyville Lodge no 51 & to his successors in office forever a certain tract or parcel of land lying being and situate in the County & State aforementioned civil district No 2 & bordered as follows beginning at a stake upon the Methodist Church lot thence North Eighty one feet to a stake thence West 2a South(?) 21 ½ poles to a stake ( ? ) Eight feet to a post Oak thence East to the Church Lot thence North & East with the Church Lot to the beginning.
To have and to hold the above granted lot or parcel of land to the said Trustees and their successors in office forever and I the said Sanders R. Carney for my self my heirs Executors and administrators do convey with the said trustees and their successors in office forever that I am lawfully siezed in fee simple of the aforesaid granted premises that they are free for all incumbencies that I have a good right to sell and convey the same to the said trustees and their successors in office forever as aforesaid and that I will and my heirs Executors & administrators shall warrant and defend the same to the said Trustees & their Successors in office forever against the Lawful Claims and demand of all persons in witness whereof I have hereunto put my hand and affixed my seal this 21st day of June 1850.
