Anderson Blackwood
In the 6th district, Nov. 26, of cancer,
Mr. Anderson Blackwood, aged about 80 years. He leaves a wife and a large number of
children and grandchildren. Mr. Blackwood came to this county from near Hillsboro, North
Carolina, about 60 years ago, and for the past 22 years has resided on the Captain R.P.
Cole place. He was a very quiet, upright citizen and was respected by all who knew him. |

In Memory Mrs. Nancy Blackwood died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Sid Nichols on January 6, 1909, at the age of 78 years. She received injuries from a fall some four weeks ago from which she never recovered. She professed faith in Christ and joined the church at the age of 20, and was a true, devoted Christian and loyal to her Savior. She lived, worked and had her being in a smaller sphere than some with greater facilities that complete and replete with convincing Christian traits. Her last days were spent in close touch with God, filled with prayer, thanks and rejoicing, talking much about her certainty of the heavenly abode. She left one sister, five sons and two daughters and many friends to mourn her death. She was buried at the Barber¹ Burying Ground, by undertaker Spicer, with funeral by the writer. J. A. Baucum |
