The funeral service for former factory
floor supervisor Magdalene Roberta "Maggie" Claxton of Paris will be at 10:30
a.m. Friday at Ridgeway Funeral Home. Richard Gasser will officiate. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery. Family members will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Friday. Claxton, 87, died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2009, at Henry County Medical Center. Born May 28, 1921, in Springville, she was a daughter of Elmon and Berta Herndon Lemonds, now both deceased. She was married on June 28, 1957, to Clyde Waymon Claxton, who died March 3, 2002. Claxton worked as a floor supervisor at Salant & Salant for many years. She also formerly worked at The Window Frame and Drapery in Paris. A family member said she enjoyed baking for Helping Hand. She also enjoyed sewing and gardening. She was a Christian. She leaves two daughters: Carol Fay Claxton of Paris and Kathy Jo Holland of Bells; one sister: Bertha Smith of Nashville; three grandchildren: Penny (Franklin) Lane of Jackson and Molly and Kevin Holland, both of Bells; and two great-grandchildren: Brody Lane and HaLeigh Evelyn Holland. She also was preceded in death by two sisters: Winnie Richardson and Onnie Lemonds. |
