Mary Louise Phillips Crabtree ~ October 2000

Funeral services for Mary Louise Phillips Crabtree, 84, will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 3, 2000, graveside at Dancyville United Methodist Church Cemetery, with Rev. Ronnie Sells Officiating.

George A. Smith and Sons North Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Crabtree died Saturday, September 30, 2000 at the home of her eldest daughter after a long illness of Alzheimer's. She was born in Dancyville, Tennessee November 24, 1915. She was the daughter of the late David Crane and Harriet Alberts Rogers Phillips.

Mrs. Crabtree graduated from Brownsville High School in 1934 as Valedictorian. She attended St. Joseph’s School of Nursing in Memphis, Tennessee, where she graduated with honors. Later that summer she married Athur Crabtree, Sr., her husband of 62 years who proceeded her in death. Upon retirement they moved from Arlington, Virginia to make their home in Jackson, Tennessee where they lived for the past 22 years.

Louise was a devoted wife, mother and a devoted church volunteer. She was a member of the First Methodist Church of Jackson. She gave her children a legacy of a kind heart and gentle spirit toward all of God’s creations. Though we will miss her, her legacy will live on in our children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also imbued her children with a tenacity to never give up and maintain a positive attitude. Her thirst for knowledge was passed on to he children and grand children by many memorable hours of reading aloud. She continued to stress the importance of education beyond formal schooling into all areas of life.

Mrs. Crabtree is survived by three children, five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Dancyville Historical Cemetery Foundation in Dancyville, Tennessee.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, October 3, 2000, at the North Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons from 11:00 a.m. until noon.
