Services for Jimmie Porter Claxton of  Bouton Lane near Whitlock will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at McEvoy Funeral Home.

David Allen Jackson and Roger Banks, both from East Wood Street Church of Christ, where he was a member, will officiate. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery.

Chosen as pallbearers are Eddie Moore, Dave Neuman, Clark Sell, Jerry and Jim Scrabrough, Jimmy Wynn, David Jackson and Bruce MacDonald. Bob Scarbrough was named an honorary pallbearer.

Claxton 57, died of cancer Wednesday night, July 17, 2002, at his residence.

Born September 24, 1944, in Calloway County, Kentucky, he was the son of Alverda Jeffrey Claxton Moore and Paul Moore of Paris and the late James Paul Claxton, who died in 1967.

He was married Feb 10, 1968, to the former Carolyn Sue Hough, who survives.

Claxton had a lifelong career in electronics and communications. An amateur radio operator for 45 years, he maintained the local 2 meter and 440 repeater tower for operation of ham radio and emergency communications in Henry County.

He also devoted his time to medical research and techology developement.

In addition to his wife and mother, he leaves twin daughters: Beth Claxton Reagan of Paris and Lisa Claxton of Berkely, California; one son: Scott Claxton of McHenry, Illinois; two brothers: Robert Wesley Claxton of Sellsbury, North Carolina and Paul Edward Moore of Beach Park, Illinois.

Three grandchildren: Sarah and Alana Claxton of McHenry Illinois and Hunter Claxton Reagan of Paris.

He also was preceded in death by a brother: Billy Edward Claxton.
