Paris, Tennessee ~ April 19, 2002
Marie Hooper Spoerry, 80, of Jerome Drive in Paris, died Thursday night, April 18, 2002, at the Plumley Rehabilitation Center.
Services are planned at 3 p.m. Saturday at McEvoy Funeral Home.
Dr.Phillip Cook, pastor at First Methodist Church in Paris, and Craig Peevyhouse, pastor of Maplewood Baptist Church where she was a member, will officiate.
Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery near Cottage Grove.
Chosen as pallbearers are Ray, Billy and Robert
Adams, Don Laster, Gordon MaCauley and Steve Lloyd.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ray Harding and Frank Parker.
Visitation is scheduled 4-8:00 p.m. today and after 10:00 a.m. Saturday.
Born November 2, 1921, in Paris, she was the
daughter of the late Joe Porter Claxton and May Belle Starling Claxton.
A homemaker she was the widow of Steve Hooper.
She leaves a son: Andrew B. "Andy" (Judy)
Hooper of Paris; two sisters: Sue Belle Adams of Paris and Mildred Caligiuri of Livonia,
Michigan;
Two grand children: Donna Hooper Sheilds and Steve Ross Hooper; and three
great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by four brothers: Joe, Waymon, Jerome and Porter Claxton; and Three Sisters: Hettie Willoughby, Dorothy Starkweather and Evelyn Florita.
