William W. Scott To Be Buried Today ~ March 7, 1961
Dancyville Landowner, 90, Dies At His Birthplace

SOMERVILLE, Tenn., March 6 - Services for William Wallace Scott, landowner and longtime resident of the Dancyville community, will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Dancyville Methodist Church. The Rev. Lloyd O. Hynds will officiate. Burial will be in the cemetery with Crawford Funeral Home of Somerville in charge. Masonic services will be held at the grave.
Mr. Scott died in his sleep Sunday night in the house where he was born and where he lived 90 years.
Despite his age, he remained active, and took a lively interest in the operation of his farm until a short time ago. He also participated in civic, fraternal, and church activities. He was a steward and trustee of Dancyville Methodist Church, and a member of the Stanton Masonic Lodge. Hunting was his hobby.
He leaves four daughters, Mrs. Blanton Neal and Mrs. John Landers of Nashville, Mrs. Ned Mallory of Forrest City, Ark., and Mrs. Brinkley Rodgers of Somerville: four sons, Wallace Scott of Forrest City, C.W. Scott of Stanton, Tenn., Dr. J.S. Scott of Ripley, Tenn., and Bruce Scott of Memphis; 18 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
