THE WILLIAM E. ' BILL ' BLACKWOOD FAMILY This family profile was originally written for the 1996 Henry County Tennessee Family History Book,issued on the county's 150th year and the Bi-centennial year for the State of Tennessee. Revised and updated: May 22, 2003-jkd. William E. 'Bill' Blackwood (1867-1939) spent much of his early life as a mule skinner hauling freight in the hills of Arkansas. The second half of his life was devoted to buying timber in Henry and surrounding counties. He was considered an authority on old growth timber; age dating,identifying and costing stands for purchase by the lumber industry.
Bill married Mary Jane Claxton(1884-1953), one of eleven children of Joel P. and Catherine Annie Black Claxton. Most of Mary Claxton Blackwood's life was devoted to homemaking.
Bill and Mary's first born:
Beulah Beatrice "Bibe" Blackwood Dancy (1912-1971). Most of her life she was a garment and auto parts factory worker. Bibe married James Hughes Dancy(1910-1968) of Dancyville,TN. James was a heavy equipment operator and a W.W. II Navy Seabee veteran.
The two children from this marriage were:
Peggy Jean Dancy Paschall, trauma center nurse. She married Hassel Bailey "Tim" Paschall(1925-1983)of Puryear, Tennessee and Tucson, Arizona ,Korean War Army Veteran, and electronic welder .
Tim and Peggy's children are:
David Eugene Paschall
Steven Kim Paschall
Bibe Lou Paschall who works in Hospital Admissions.
James Karl "Buddy" Dancy, Korean War era Air Force veteran, is a retired hospital food service director and married Roselee K.Haugh (1932-1992), retail management of Logansport, Indiana.
Buddy and Roselee's children are
Janice Kimberly Dancy, opera theater wardrobe supervisor.
Robert J. Storckman, postal worker and U.S.Navy veteran.
*Beulah "Bibe" Blackwood Dancy's second marriage was to George Edward Baucum, commercial baker and W.W. II Air Force Veteran.There were no children from this marriage.
Bill and Mary Blackwood's second daughter:
Nell Henryetta Blackwood Hawks,(1915-1978) telephone operator supervisor. Nell married Lloyd Duffy Hawks, retail sales of Humboldt, Tennessee
Nell and Lloyd's daughter:
Martha Jane Hawks Bledsoe, elementary school teacher.Martha Jane married William "T" Bledsoe, telephone company supervisor of Humboldt and Memphis, Tennessee.
Martha Jane and "T"'s children are:
Bonnie Nell Bledsoe Lee, elementary school teacher. Bonnie married David Lee of Memphis, Tennessee.
Jennifer Jane Bledsoe.
Bill and Mary Blackwood's son was:
Roger Anderson "Pete" Blackwood(1916-1943) restaurant owner.Pete married Ruth Roland Farley,retired office management of Murray, Kentucky.
Pete and Ruth's daughter is:
Roginia Sue Blackwood Baker, elementary school teacher.Roginia Married Ronald W. Baker, commercial sales of Nashville, Tennessee.
Roginia and Ronald's children are:
Tiffany Turk Baker. Tiffy has done music video acting and currently does international fashion modeling.

The Bill Blackwood family, like many, became mobile following W.W.II. Only Mary Claxton Blackwood, Bibe Blackwood Dancy Baucum and Roger "Pete" Blackwood lived their entire lives in Henry County.
