Update Of The Dancyville United Methodist Church Restoration
In a letter from Miss Dorothy Moore, Treasurer of the Memorial Fund, she reported:
- The work to restore the 100 year old window shutters has been completed.
- Plaques naming contributors and/or memoriams have been installed.
- Contributors names will be recorded in the Book of Remembrance kept in the vestibule.
- On behalf of the church membership, thanks was extended
to those who contributed
to the fund for restoring the shutters. This work could not have been done
without their
contributions.
- Earlier the outside of the church had been pressure
washed, scraped and painted. Window
units scraped, reglazed and painted; and other repairs made where necessary.

Church and Window Shutter Restoration Letter
DANCYVILLE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH
August 13, 2002
Dear Friends of Dancyville United Methodist Church,
As you may already know, the church is undergoing much needed restoration and painting. We have the funds to complete the work on the outside of the structure, but we are still in need of money to finish the shutters. The 28 shutters, which are original to the building and in delicate condition, need to be stripped of their many coats of paint and repaired before the new paint is added. The cost to restore the shutters is approximately $250.00 per shutter.
We are seeking donations for the shutter repair. A donation in any amount will be greatly appreciated and will be recorded in the Memorial Book which will be located in the vestibule of the church. A bronze plaque will be placed in the church commemorating anyone who wishes to make a donation equal to the amount of a shutter repair or $250.00. The plaque would name the person or persons that the donor may wish to commemorate (i.e. "In Memory of Mr. & Mrs. John Doe, by George and Mary Doe or "In Honor of Mr. and Mrs. John Doe by Children"). Since each window has 2 shutters, some families may wish to contribute the amount of 2 shutters and a plaque will be placed either on the window or on the wall by a window.
We are very proud of this wonderful old church that has served our community for over 150 years and our desire is to preserve it for generations to come. Your gift in any amount will be greatly appreciated and can be sent to:
