JOSEPH B. II and MARTHA MILLER MOORE
Joseph B. II and Martha Miller Moore had six children:¶
¶ DOROTHY MOORE, born January 5, 1917 (See profile of Miss Moore here)
¶ JOSEPH B. MOORE Jr., born April 22, 1918, attended Memphis State and was in the Army Air Corps (W.W. II) from 1944-1946, serving in the European Theater. After his discharge, he entered the mercantile business and farming in Dancyville. Joseph Jr. married Dorothy Duffey, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Walter Duffey April 13, 1941.
Joe and Dorothy's children are:
~Billy Joe Moore, who married Huston A. Leath. Billy Joe and Huston's children are: Melinda Ann Leath, Lisa Leath, Stephen Leath and Patrick Leath.~Joseph (Joey) Burney Moore III, who married Joyce Lumley, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Bobby Lumley of Bells. Joey attended Jackson State and is engaged in farming. He farms some of the land farmed by his great-great-grandfather.
Joey and Joyce's children are: Joseph Burney Moore IV and Amanda Lynn Moore.
¶ GUS MILLER MOORE, born December 24, 1921, attended Tennessee Technological University from 1939-1942. He was a Captain in the US Army Infantry from1942-1946, serving in the European Theater (W.W. II) and military government in Barvaria, Germany. He was an FBI Special Agent from 1948 until his retirement in 1977.
Gus married Betty Reilly and their childred are:~ Michael Joseph who married Polly Kuhry. Michael and Polly's children are: Patrick Moore, Peter Moore, Douglas Moore.
~Kathy Moore who married Ron Campbell. Kathy and Ron's children are: Kevin Campbell and Christopher Campbell.
~Thomas Moore, also a Special Agent with the FBI in New York City.
¶ BILLY ERWIN MOORE, born March 10, 1924, was in the U.S. Marines from January 1943 to May 1946, serving in the South Pacific. He is retired from the Tennessee Highway Patrol and as a Colonel from the Tennessee National Guard.
Billy married (1) Billy Jean English and their children are:~Martha Sharon Moore, who married Larry Merryman Martha and Larry's children are: Jeffery Allen Merryman. Jeffery Married Jennifer Rae Inlow and their son is Bradley Neil Merryman.
~Richard Randel Moore, who married Jane Webb. Richard and Jane's son is William Alan Moore.
Billy married (2) Helen Dobson ( 1926-1993 ), buried in Dancyville Methodist Cemetery.
Billy married (3) Virginia Lusk.¶ THOMAS MARSHALL MOORE (1925-2000). Soon after graduation from high school he was inducted in the U.S. Army and served with the 69th Infantry Division in the European Theater, W.W. II, from 1944-1946. Marshall married Wilma Smith and their children are:
~Linda Gladys Moore who married Philip Bronfin.
~Marsha Rae Moore Bertasi. Marsha'a son is Raymond Marshall Bertasi
¶ UNA LILLIAN MOORE, born July 26, 1927, who married William Bryan Jakes, Jr. of Old Hickory, Tennessee, on September 12, 1947, at the Dancyville United Methodist Church. Una and William's children are:
~William Bryan Jakes III, who married Rita Whitten of Matthews Missouri, September 20, 1986. William and Rita's children are:
William Bryan Jakes IV and Georgia Leigh Jakes
~David Miller Jakes. David's daughters are: Allanna Brittany Jakes and Miranda Sherie Jakes.
David married (2) Teresa Dawn Williams of Dyer, Tennessee.
This generation of Moores say one of their fondest childhood memories is that of sitting on the front porch, on summer nights, listening to Momma and Daddy sing songs of earlier days and to Daddy play the harmonica. Their Father's grandchildren had the pleasure of listening to him sing those same songs and play his harmonica.
