DANCY

ALABAMA

I believe  Dancy, Alabama, was named after Dr. Edwin C. Dancy, born 1810 in Edgecombe, NC.
Edwin was the son of William and Agnes Little Dancy. Dr. Dancy went from North Carolina
to Mississippi (along with some Littles) and I think settled in Alabama in the 1820's. When it became Dancy,

I do not know. But there was a Post Office. Dr. Dancy owned most of the land including a large plantation.
I am a Dancy by birth, my great grandfather was Lorenzo Dancy, one of  Dr. Dancy's sons. There is no town,
anymore, but I remember when I was small, my grandfather talked about Dancy. Apparently there was a hotel,
and the train stopped there.

We greatly appreciate the Dancy, Alabama information, provided by  DEBORAH  MUIRHEAD.
